Tennessee Volunteers Defeat Vanderbilt Commodores 58-46

Trae Golden returned to the starting lineup Wednesday night, as Tennessee beat Vanderbilt in Memorial Gym. The Vols led by as many as 16 as they sweep the season series with the Commodores.

Golden scored 12 points and had 7 rebounds in 39 minutes of play. 11 of Golden’s points came in the first half .

Jarnell Stokes had yet another double-double for the Vols, scoring 17 points and adding 10 rebounds.

Kenny Hall did not play in the game for Tennessee.  He was uninjured and head coach Cuonzo Martin said he didn’t play due to match-ups.

Tennessee’s offense stalled in the second half, after scoring 40 points in the first half, four more then their season low for a game against Georgetown when they scored only 36.

Tennessee also had a season low 7 turnovers in the game.

Tennessee imrpoves to 13-10 overall and pulls to within one game of .500 in the conference at 5-6. Vanderbilt falls to 9-13 overall and 3-8 in the conference.

The Vols will return to Knoxville on Saturday to take on Kentucky, who’s coming off a loss against Florida. The Wildcats lost freshmen sensation and leading rebounder Nerlins Noel for the season, after tearing his ACL against Florida. The two teams will tip off at 1:oo PM EST on Saturday.
