Baseball

The Tennessee Volunteers pushed their record to 11-9 with a win over Western Carolina at Lindsey Nelson Stadium on Wednesday. Western Carolina jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, but the Vols were not to be outdone. Tennessee scored 9 runs in the bottom of the third with two outs. The Vols would tack on another run in the 7th for a 10-5 win.

Freshmen Trevor Sharpie picked up his second win of the year, improving to 2-0.

Tennessee will remain at home this weekend for a three-game set with the Missouri Tigers.

The Tigers are 7-10 on the season. This will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.

Missouri – RHP Brett Graves (0-2, 2.45)

March 24th — 2:00 pm est

Tennessee – RHP Trevor Bettencourt (2-1, 1.65)

Missouri – TBA

After the Vol’s series against Missouri, the team will take on Tennessee Tech in a mid-week match up on Tuesday March 26th at 6:00 pm est in Knoxville.

Softball

The Lady Vols will enter their weekend matchup with Texas A&M as the 8th ranked team in the nation.

The Aggies are one of the top teams in the nation. Texas A&M, who’s ranked 5/4, will comes into the series with a 26-2 record.

Texas A&M is currently riding a four game winning streak.

The Lady Vols, who started the season on a 12 game winning streak, have dropped 3 of their last 5 games.

Tennessee and Texas A&M will take the field at 6:30 pm est on both Friday and Saturday. On Sunday the first pitch is scheduled for 1:30 pm est at Lee Stadium

Saturday’s game will be nationally televised on ESPNU.
