Offensive lineman Dallas Thomas, the third round pick of the Miami Dolphins, was able to open training camp as a full participant, after missing most of the off-season workouts with the team.

The former Tennessee Volunteer injured his shoulder during Senior Bowl practice in January.

Thomas had to have his shoulder surgically repaired, which caused him to slip in draft to the third round.

With the selection of Dallas Thomas, the Dolphins got an extremely versatile offensive lineman. He lined up at left tackle during the first part of his career at Tennessee, before moving to guard to accommodate All-SEC offensive lineman Antonio “Tiny” Richardson.

Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin was unwilling to commit to Thomas at either position early in mini-camps. According to Omar Kelly, who covers the Dolphins for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Thomas was working as the second team left tackle as training camp opened this past weekend.

Thomas will give the Miami plenty of depth and versatility along their offensive line as the Dolphins prepare to make a run in the AFC East this season.
