Former Tennessee Volunteers running back Arian Foster will finally be hitting the practice field for the Houston Texans, when he comes off the P.U.P. (physically unable to perform) list this Sunday, according to a report from Tania Ganguli of the Houston Chronicle.

The three-time pro-bowler strained his calf during OTA’s in May.

What was initially thought of as a minor injury, turned out to be a bit more severe, causing Foster to miss the opening portion of training camp.

The Texans are likely being cautious with Foster because of a previous injury the star running-back suffered.

In 2011 Foster strained his hamstring and missed time in camp and the opening game of the season. Houston tried to bring Foster back too early, which caused him to miss additional game-time.

Foster touched the ball 391 times last season, which was the second most amount of touches he has received in his career. As a result the Texans will look to former Auburn running back Ben Tate to ease Foster’s load this season.

Tate has his own injury history as well, missing all of his rookie season in 2010 with a broken ankle and missing significant time last season with hamstring and foot issues.

The Texans have a potent running game will need both of these dynamic running backs healthy as they’re one of teams to beat in the AFC this season.
