With the season getting underway a week from tonight, the pre-season watch lists are winding down.

On Thursday the Coaches’ pre-season All-SEC teams were released.

Tennessee ended up with seven players on the three teams, good enough for fourth best in the conference.

First Team

  • Antonio Richardson – Offensive Lineman
  • A.J. Johnson – Linebacker

Second Team

  • Jawuan James – Offensive Lineman
  • Zach Fulton – Offensive Lineman
  • Daniel McCullers – Defensive Tackle

Third Team

  • James Stone – Offensive Lineman
  • Michael Palardy – Punter/Kicker

Alabama led the way with 14 All-SEC selections, followed by Georgia and LSU with eight.

Kentucky finished with the least amount of representatives with two, both third-team selections.

Johnson and Richardson, the only Vols on the first team, are both juniors. Both, however, are likely playing in their final season with the Volunteers. Richardson is already pegged as one of the best offensive linemen in the 2014 draft. Johnson has already been graded by some draft analysts as a first or second round talent. The likelihood of either returning next season is doubtful.

The Volunteers open their season a week from Saturday, against Austin Peay, at 6:00 pm est.
