It’s hard to believe, but just two years ago a lot of NFL analysts (and fans) were writing off Peyton Manning.

Manning had missed the entire 2011 season, due to some neck issues that required several surgical fusions.

The former Vol was released by the Colts and eventually signed with the Denver Broncos.

After a successful 2012 season, which included a playoff run, Manning has come back even better in 2013.

At age 37, Peyton Manning is on pace for a historic season. He tied an NFL record in week one, throwing for seven touchdowns, before setting an NFL record on Monday night against the Raiders.

Manning has now thrown 12 touchdowns in the first three games of the season, breaking Tom Brady’s 2011 record of 11.

That puts Manning on pace to throw 64 touchdowns.

While I doubt Manning puts up 64 touchdowns this season, I do think Tom Brady’s single-season mark of 50 touchdowns is definitely in jeopardy. Aside from a week 16 matchup with the Houston Texans, the Broncos have a very very favorable schedule.

Manning looks as locked-in and focused as he ever has in his career. It’s a pure joy watching him play football. As good as he is, we only have a few years left to watch one of the all-time greats. So sit back and enjoy the ride.
