The process of getting a big-time recruit enrolled can be a tricky one.

Step one is getting the recruit on campus. Step two would be getting a commitment from the recruit.

The all-important third step is keeping that recruit’s commitment all the way until national signing day.

Just because a guy commits, doesn’t mean other teams stop recruiting him.

Such is the case with Tennessee Volunteers commit Eric Lauderdale.

Lauderdale, a juco wide receiver, committed to the Vols on July 14. He’s rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and the number-three overall juco wide receiver.

So it makes sense that a team like Florida would go after the MissionViejo, CA native.

According to Lauderdale’s Twitter account, the Gators offered the 6’2″ wide receiver, but he quickly let Vol fans know he’s not going anywhere.

Lauderdale’s quick rebuff of Florida’s offer says a lot about where Butch Jones stands among recruits.

It should also have fans giddy about 2014 and what the future holds for Tennessee. Butch Jones has a severe lack of talent right now, but not for long with guys like this coming to Rocky Top.
