The Vols officially added a defensive tackle to their 2014 class as Owen Williams signed his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday morning.
Williams is a three-star defensive tackle from El Dorado, KS. He’s rated as the 17th best JuCo defensive tackle in the nation.
The 6’1″/280 lb defensive tackle should be able to help alleviate some of the defensive line issues that plagued the Volunteers in 2013.
Tennessee didn’t do a very good job of pressuring the quarterback, or stopping the run in 2013. Williams will be able to fill some of those holes.
The Kansas native didn’t have a litany of additional offers, but he was also offered by Texas Tech and at one point was committed to play there. He decommitted on November 24, after attending the UT/Vanderbilt game, and committed to Tennessee.
