One of the Tennessee Volunteers’ top remaining targets, running back Derrell Scott, is set to announce his college decision on Monday January 27.

Scott is a four-star all-purpose back that stands 5’11” and weighs in at 180 lbs. 247Sports rates Scott as the third best all-purpose back in the nation and the sixth best player in the state of North Carolina.

The running back from Havelock, NC (Havelock) is down to three schools — South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.

Many folks, however, believe that Florida is out of the picture.

Scott would be a huge pickup for Tennessee and in a way, he’s a must get player.

With Marlin Lane moving on after the 2014 season, the Vols will have very very little depth at running back behind stud recruit Jalen Hurd. Scott would help to alleviate some of those depth concerns.

63% of the 247Sports crystal ball predictions have Scott heading to Columbia, while 37% have him landing in Knoxville. There are no predictions for Scott to Florida.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Kipp Adams and 247Sports CEO Shannon Terry are among those predicting that Scott will end up a Vol.

I, along with fellow All For Tennessee writer Tom Harvey, also made a crystal ball prediction of Scott to Tennessee.

Butch Jones and his staff have to prove to be great closers. Last year they showed us that with Marquez North and Josh Dobbs, but the stakes are definitely a little higher this year with a potential top five class on the line.
