The Tennessee Volunteers’ 2014 recruiting class was extremely successful due mostly to the incredible in-state talent they were able to land.

While there are not as many highly touted in-state guys in the 2015 class, there are still some quality guys they would love to get commitments from.

One of those guys is wide receiver Van Jefferson from Brentwood, TN (Ravenwood).

Jefferson recently picked up an offer from the South Carolina Gamecocks. He also has offers from schools such as Clemson, Penn State and Ohio State, as well as several others.

The Tennessee native is a 6’2″/180 lb receiver that reportedly runs a 4.56 40-yard dash.

That may not seem like an amazing time, but it’s plenty fast enough for a big receiver.

Jefferson is rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and the 7th best player in the state of Tennessee.

This is obviously a guy the Vols don’t want to let get away, but with players like Josh Malone, Von Pearson and Marquez North on the roster already and 2015 wide receiver Preston Williams already committed, Jefferson could feel like playing time would be an issue.

Of course playing time likely wouldn’t be an issue, as Butch Jones and wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni like to use a eight or nine man rotation at receiver. Not to mention Pearson will be gone after 2015 and Marquez North will be gone after 2016 (assuming he stays all four years).

The depth the Vols have at wide receiver is nice, but adding Jefferson would make it that much sweeter.
