Nothing is ever final in recruiting until the ink dries on National Signing Day.

But the Vols received the next best thing from 247Sports five-star wide receiver commit Preston Williams on Thursday.

Williams tweeted that he’s shutting down his recruitment.

This is fantastic news for Butch Jones and Tennessee. Williams is a 6’4″/190 lb wide receiver that fits the mold of a “Tennessee receiver”. He’s long, fast, has great hands and good field awareness.

Williams, who is rated by 247Sports as the top 2015 wide receiver in the nation, committed to UT on September 21, 2013.

The Vols’ group of 2015 wide receivers is shaping up to be embarrassingly great for the Vols.

Imagine a group that includes Williams, Marquez North, Josh Malone and Von Pearson.

Now imagine five-star quarterback Torrance Gibson paired with those guys.

That dream isn’t far from being a reality.

Yeah, Butch Jones knows what he’s doing.
