Tennessee Football: Vols Lead For JuCo Defensive Tackle

facebooktwitterreddit

D.J. Jones, a four-star JuCo defensive tackle from Piedmont, SC (Wren), released his top ten schools on Sunday evening and the Tennessee Volunteers are at the top of his list.

Jones is rated by 247Sports as the third best 2015 JuCo player in the nation and the top JuCo defensive tackle in the nation.

Butch Jones inherited a depleted roster when he took the job at Tennessee and one of the most depleted position groups was (and still is) the defensive line. As a result, Jones has had to look to the JuCo ranks for some immediate help.

The defensive line (and the roster as whole) is still nowhere close to where it needs to be in order for the Vols to compete consistently in the SEC. That’s why you’re still seeing Jones and the Vol staff go hard after some JuCo guys that can come in and contribute immediately.

D.J. Jones, who has notable offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida State and South Carolina, is one of those guys. The Vols are in great shape with Jones and are definitely the favorites to land the talented defensive tackle.
