Vols 2014 Stat Projections: Jason Croom

facebooktwitterreddit

Jason Croom is a wide receiver trapped in a tight end’s body.

The 6’5″/234 lb redshirt sophomore from Norcross, GA showed last season that not only could he be a redzone threat, but that he’s capable of being a deep threat as well.

Unfortunately for Croom, the same opportunities won’t be present for him in 2014 with Von Pearson and Josh Malone on the scene.

But that doesn’t mean you can forget about Croom.

And if you’re an opposing defense — you better not.

I expect the Vols to utilize Croom’s size advantage in four-wide sets in one-on-one matchups.

Croom might not load up on receptions or yards in 2014, but his touchdown production should improve greatly from his two touchdowns in 2013.

The Georgia native will likely be listed as the Vols’ fourth wide receiver on the depth chart. He’s an impressive weapon that Vol fans should be excited about seeing in 2014.
