Former Tennessee Volunteers running back Montario Hardesty will join the Chowan University football team as an intern this fall.

This is according to a release from the school.

"The Chowan University football team and head coach Tim Place have announced the addition of Montario Hardesty to their staff for the 2014 season.  Hardesty joins the Hawks through the NFL Players Association internship program.  He will work as an intern for the team through the month of November."

Chowan University is located in Murfreesboro, NC, which is about two hours from Hardesty’s hometown of New Bern, NC.

Hardesty, who played at Tennessee from 2005-2009, was drafted in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.

The former Vol started five games for the Browns during the course of the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

Unfortunately for Hardesty, injuries derailed his once promising career. He was placed on injured reserve before the 2013 season and released shortly thereafter.

Hardesty isn’t the only former Vol that will be a coaching intern this fall.

Former Vols wide receiver Donte Stallworth is currently interning with the Baltimore Ravens as part of the NFL’s minority coaching fellowship program until mid-August.

You never know, one of these former Vols could end up on Butch Jones’ staff one day.
