Butch Jones Hopes To Name Starting QB In “Next Day Or Two”; Our Prediction

Butch Jones is apparently going to follow through on his promise to name a starting quarterback this week.

After a closed practice on Wednesday evening, Jones said he’s hoping to name a starter in the “next day or two”.

With the start of the season just over two weeks away, it’s imperative that Tennessee names a starting quarterback soon.

The last couple of weeks of practice before the season begins is extremely important. This is when the coaches iron out the wrinkles and get the offense exactly where it needs to be for the opener. Your first-team guys have (hopefully) emerged at this point and need all the first-team reps they can get.

Our prediction for the starting quarterback is one that we’re fairly certain most everyone shares. It’s not a revelation by any means. This has actually been a pretty boring quarterback battle, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on your perspective.

In our humble opinion, it will be Justin Worley that is named the starter by Butch Jones. Worley is the guy that has the most confidence at this point and he has the most experience. He is the Vols’ best option if they want to be bowl eligible this season.

We’re not going to say you can bet your life on it, but it’s very, very, very likely that Worley is the guy.
