The Vols received their first commitment of what is expected to be a hectic upcoming month and a half in recruiting. Three-star offensive lineman Venzell Boulware of Fairburn, Georgia chose Tennessee over Ohio State Saturday afternoon.

Boulware had recently announced he would be deciding between the Vols and the Buckeyes on August 23rd (on his birthday nonetheless) at 4 PM, and he held up his end of the bargain, announcing his decision via Twitter.

Boulware had recently visited Tennessee for the first time in over 5 months when he attended the Vols open practice on Saturday, August 16th. He claimed his last visit was the deciding factor in his decision.

According to 247Sports, Boulware is a high 3-star offensive tackle, rated as the No. 345 overall player and 39th best offensive linemen in the country.

At 6-4, 295 lbs, Boulware already has a good frame and athleticism to play tackle in college, and that’s the position he currently plays for Creekside High School.

Boulware gives the Vols their 23rd known commitment in the 2015 class, and he becomes the 4th offensive lineman in the class, joining 4-star Jack Jones, 3-star Chance Hall, and 3-star Zach Stewart. Boulware was also a former teammate of Evan and Elliot Berry.

Boulware’s commitment is big for the Vols for multiple reasons. They need depth on the offensive line moving forward, and if Drew Richmond, the No. 1 prospect in the state of Tennessee, doesn’t commit to the Vols, Boulware’s role in the future will be even more expansive.

The next month and a half has several top Vol targets set to announce their college decisions, so be sure to check back here for the latest recruiting news.
