Reaction: Vols RB Treyvon Paulk Dismissed From Team

Butch Jones announced on Monday afternoon, during his weekly press conference, that true freshman running back Treyvon Paulk has been dismissed from the Vols’ football program.

Jones declined to comment further on the situation, simply saying it was due to a “personal conduct” issue.

Paulk was a likely redshirt candidate for the Vols this season. He had knee surgery last fall and had yet to appear in a game for the Volunteers this season.

The Georgia native was a three-star running back coming out of Milton High School. He had offers from California, Louisville, Wisconsin and West Virginia, among others.

It was very unlikely that Paulk was going to see much playing time at Tennessee. He would’ve been the Vols’ fifth running back, at best, if healthy this season.

Fellow true freshman Derrell Scott, who is now healthy , and Justus Pickett would’ve been in front of Paulk on the depth chart.

Even with Marlin Lane moving on after this season, Paulk probably still wouldn’t have seen much time next season with Four-star JuCo running back Alvin Kamara and three-star running back Rocky Reid coming to town.

You obviously never want to lose depth at any position, but the loss of Paulk isn’t one that should hurt the program in any way.
