Nick Saban Claims He Didn’t Know Josh Dobbs Would Play

Josh Dobbs didn’t start at quarterback for the Vols against Alabama this past Saturday, but he was certainly the quarterback that finished the game for Tennessee.

Senior quarterback Justin Worley was unable to go after sustaining a shoulder injury against Ole Miss. The Vols decided to start Nathan Peterman, who was yanked from the game after two ineffective series.

Butch Jones then inserted Josh Dobbs into the game, who proceeded to rush for 75 yards against Bama’s vaunted defense.

Dobbs helped lead each of Tennessee’s four scoring drives and the offense looked the best it has all season with the sophomore under center.

On Tuesday, Alabama head coach Nick Saban claimed his team didn’t prepare for Dobbs because he had “no idea he would play”.

That’s an odd statement to make, considering Butch Jones told the media Dobbs would play against Alabama if Worley couldn’t go.

Surely Alabama would’ve gameplanned for Dobbs. They saw him last season when Worley was injured. There’s no way they thought they would fail to see him this past Saturday.

I’m not really sure what Nick Saban has to gain from making this claim, but it certainly looks very odd.
