Vols Recruiting: Tennessee Commit Offered By Auburn

2016 four-star quarterback Austin Kendall, a Tennessee Vols commit, picked up an offer from the Auburn Tigers on Friday.

Kendall, a 6’2″/205 lb Waxhaw, NC (Cuthbertson High School) native, committed to the Vols on August 3, 2014.

The nation’s 13th ranked pro-style quarterback, however, committed to Tennessee when Mike Bajakian was the Volunteers’ offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach.

The hiring of Mike DeBord will certainly impact Kendall’s recruitment (despite what you may hear) and it should. Kendall, just like any young recruit, needs to feel comfortable with the coaching staff wherever he attends — especially his position coach.

Kendall is taking visits and while he’s still committed to Tennessee, I definitely feel this is a situation to monitor. Kendall could view the path to playing time at UT as murky with the Vols signing three quarterbacks in the 2015 recruiting class.

I wouldn’t put Kendall on decommitment watch at this point, but I do think his status as a Vol commit is fluid at this point.
