Jordan Williams Was “Best Coached Player” At Jets Mini Camp

Former Tennessee Volunteers defensive lineman Jordan Williams was apparently the best coached player at Jets mini camp this past weekend, a testament to Butch Jones and his staff.

Williams went undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft, but signed a free agent deal with the New York Jets shortly after the conclusion of the draft.

More from Vols In The Pros

The former Vol started 21 games during his career at Tennessee, including all 13 games during his senior season.

Williams finished his college career with 6.5 sacks, 10.5 tackles for loss and 66 total tackles.

The fact that Williams stood out at mini camp as a well coached player, should tell you all you need to know about Jones and the staff on Rocky Top.

There are some former Vols (prior to the Butch Jones era) that haven’t found success in the NFL due to their lack of coaching in college. Jordan Williams is an example of a player that probably shouldn’t find success in the NFL, but might have a chance because of the coaching he received in college.

It’s still a longshot that Williams will make the Jets’ 53-man roster. But he clearly made a great first impression, something you don’t get a second chance to do.
