Four-Star junior college defensive tackle Alexis Johnson has officially joined the Tennessee football family. He is now a member of the Volunteers.

2016 JuCo defensive lineman Alexis Johnson is officially a Volunteer.

The Jonesboro, GA native tweeted out the news on Wednesday morning and was welcomed to the program by Butch Jones.

Johnson is a four-star defensive tackle that is rated by 247Sports as the sixth best 2016 JuCo defensive tackle in the nation.

The newest member of the Volunteers’ football program committed to Tennessee on June 16. After committing to the Vols, Johnson picked up an offer from Alabama, but remained firmly committed to UT.

Johnson compiled 87 total tackles and 26 tackles for loss during his two seasons at Fort Scott community college. He had 8.5 sacks last season alone.

The addition of Johnson is obviously big for Tennessee. The Vols finally have quality depth along their defensive line, a position group that should be a major strength for Tennessee in 2016.
