Despite no NFL Draft picks former Tennessee football players have signed contracts. Volunteers Marquez North and Brian Randolph joined the Los Angeles Rams.

Just as predicted, safety Brian Randolph and wide receiverMarquez North were the two most valued former Vols in this year’s NFL Draft. And although they were not drafted, they immediately signed contracts as undrafted free agents with the newly relocated Los Angeles Rams.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch NFL writer Jim Thomas broke the news on Twitter.

Randolph announced his signing on Twitter.

We have already documented the fact that Tennessee had nobody drafted for the second straight year. But these are two Vols who have a lot of potential and could be major steals, particularly Randolph.

Randolph is the most experienced player in maybe college football history, having started a full four years and part of a fifth year before being lost for the season due to injury.

He is a smart player and is always in the right position, the type of guy Jeff Fisher would love on his defense.

North’s biggest focus has to be on staying healthy. If he can, he’s an amazing talent who can make incredible catches and has the right size and speed to be a mismatch on the football field against anybody.

He never panned out the way he could have at Tennessee based no the promise he showed as a freshman, but it wasn’t all his fault.

Needless to say, Randolph and North both have lots of potential if things break the right way.
