Tennessee football recruiting got another commitment Monday as the Volunteers beat out Alabama and Ohio State for four-star defensive tackle Kivon Bennett.

After an incredible weekend in recruiting, the momentum continued on Monday as Butch Jones and the Tennessee Vols picked up another elite prospect for the 2017 recruiting class.

Despite heavy recruiting from the previous two national champions, Tennessee football recruiting won out for Kivon Bennett.

Bennett announced his commitment on Twitter.

A four-star defensive tackle on rivals, the Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native out of St. Thomas Aquinas High School right now is standing ar 6’3″ and about 260 pounds. But he has proven himself against elite South Florida competition, and it shouldn’t be too hard for him to put on a few more pounds before next year.

Bennett already shows rare strenght on the line and an uncanny ability to stop the run, and he also can run side to side to track down quarterbacks.

Jones and the coaching staff have really been focused on a Florida pipeline, accentuated by bringing in Larry Scott this past offseason, and it seems to be working.

The commitment gives Tennessee a numbers advantage once again and is the cherry on top of what was an amazing weekend.

The Vols now have bodies going into the recruiting dead period. But do they have lots of real talent? Only time will tell.

One thing for sure is that you can never have enough depth on the defensive line, so Bennett’s commitment is huge in that regard. And the fact that he committed over the Crimson Tide and the Buckeyes speaks further volumes as to how great Tennessee football recruiting has become once again.
