Tennessee football awards, news surrounding Dave Hart, Butch Jones quotes and golf headline the Volunteers updates on Rocky Top for Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016.

Well that was a fun Monday for Rocky Top. Vols fans everywhere got to head back to school and work celebrating their win over the Florida Gators.

Now, as usual, the start of Tuesday means it’s time to look ahead to next week’s game. Butch Jones held his press conference Monday, Tennessee football is in full preparation mode for the Georgia Bulldogs…the second of this brutal four-game stretch they have.

There is lots of football news to get to today as the Vols prepare for this game, including some nice recognition for a couple of players.

Oh, and there’s an awkward quote from Butch Jones we’d like to touch on.

But there also may be some administrative drama we need to get to. And finally, we have other sports to touch on again.

However, let’s start with the football news.

Dobbs, Barnett earn weekly SEC awards – Kane O’Neill of WJHL

"Tennessee senior quarterback Joshua Dobbs has been named SEC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.….Tennessee junior defensive end Derek Barnett has been named SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday."

Butch Jones acknowledges fan anger at halftime of UF game – Ryan Callahan of 247Sports

"Jones acknowledged during his weekly Monday press conference that there were “a lot of people that didn’t want me here at halftime,” when the Vols trailed Florida 21-3 before scoring five touchdowns in the second half of their 38-28 win over the Gators.“I bleed with our fan base,” Jones said. “I know our fan base is very hungry. I know what they want. And I don’t want to let them down.”"

University opted against Dave Hart extension before retirement – Associated Press 

"The University of Tennessee had opted against giving athletic director Dave Hart a contract extension with a raise before he announced he was stepping down, according to documents obtained in a public records request by The Associated Press.In an Aug. 10 email, University of Tennessee President Joe DiPietro told Chancellor Jimmy Cheek that “for the reasons we have discussed concerning what is in the best interests of the University, including the fact that a new Chancellor will assume office within the next year, I agree with your decision not to extend Mr. Hart’s contract for two years with increased compensation.”"

"The Tennessee women’s golf team shot a five-over 293 on the Red Sky Golf Club’s Fazio Course (par 72, 6,261 yards) on Monday to finish the first round of the Golfweek Conference Challenge in third place.“The course is in great shape and the greens are fast and in perfect shape,” said Head Coach Judi Pavon. “Overall, it was a pretty good day. We had a rough three-hole stretch from five through seven but we played well besides those.”"
