Tennessee vs Georgia Tech is the first outing for the Volunteers’ men’s basketball program since they came back from Maui before Thanksgiving.

Rick Barnes’s team is back in action a week and a half long break following their trip to Maui. Tennessee vs Georgia Tech features two teams in rebuilding mode, although one team has a much more proven coach in that regard.

And that team is the Vols.

Still, at 2-3, the young squad in Knoxville is still trying to find itself, and they are also having trouble staying healthy.

With Jordan Bone suffering a stress fracture in his foot, the Vols are going to have to start finding a way to win without a guy who was settling in as their point guard.

The Yellow Jackets are led by first-year head coach Josh Pastner, who spent seven years as head coach of the Memphis Tigers and did everything he could to duck playing the Vols while there.

Here is the information you need to know on the game.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Tennessee Volunteers

Although the Vols are favored to win this game, their inconsistencies as a young team leave everything on the table.

They excited a lot of fans with the fight they gave the Wisconsin Badgers and the Oregon Ducks in Maui, but the team still has a losing record at 2-3 and a bad loss to Chattanooga at the beginning of the year.

Georgia Tech is one of three big-time non-conference games the Vols have this month, with the North Carolina Tar Heels on the schedule a week from Sunday and the Gonzaga Bulldogs on the schedule the very next week.

Given the brutality of that schedule, this game at home is one they’d really like to have.
