The Tennessee Lady Vols will host the No. 4 ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs Sunday afternoon. Here is the UT Women’s Basketball Volunteers’ preview.

The red-hot Tennessee Lady Vols are set for a climactic test of their momentum with a huge game Sunday afternoon.

The 10-4 Volunteers, who are 2-0 in the SEC, will host the undefeated Mississippi State Bulldogs, who are 16-0 overall and also 2-0 in the SEC.

Currently, Holly Warlick’s team is on a six-game winning streak, which includes a huge road win over the Vanderbilt Commodores and wins over two ranked teams in the Kentucky Wildcats and Stanford Cardinal.

But Mississippi State will be their toughest test by far of this streak. One of their wins this year was over the No. 8 ranked Texas Longhorns, who eventually beat the Lady Vols. However, this is a different Lady Vols team than the on that lost that game.

A win will certainly return them to the Top 25 and could potentially put them near the Top 10.

Here is the information you need for the game.

No. 4 Mississippi State Bulldogs at Tennessee Volunteers

When: Sunday, Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. E.T.

Where: Thompson Boling Arena; Knoxville, Tenn.

TV: SEC Network +

Live Stream: WatchESPN

Although Mississippi State is undefeated and did beat the Texas Longhorns, they still haven’t proven that much.

After all, that is the only ranked team the Bulldogs have played all year. Their RPI strength of schedule is No. 40, and only two of their wins have come against Top 50 RPI teams.

Warlick’s team has shown dramatic improvement in recent weeks across the board, but the big story has been depth. She is now able to go 8-deep, which was not the case during most the non-conference season.

That extra depth is helping this team to close out games, which is huge.

And this will be a real opportunity for them to seriously prove that the depth makes them a legitimately great team once again.
