Tennessee basketball point guard Jordan Bowden is unlikely to play against the LSU Tigers, and Volunteers senior Robert Hubbs III is also battling injuries.

As they continue to fall apart down the stretch of the season, Tennessee basketball players are now having trouble staying healthy as well.

Vols freshman point guard Jordan Bowden is still out, and according to the Knoxville News Sentinel, he is unlikely to play at the LSU Tigers on Wednesday.

Here is what Mike Strange of the Knoxville News Sentinel wrote about Bowden’s situation Monday afternoon.

"Bowden, who has battled pneumonia, met with his doctor Monday, coach Rick Barnes said. UT spokesman Tom Satkowiak said later Monday Bowden had resumed  “very limited” activity under the supervision of the athletic training staff, but is not ready to participate at full speed."

Of course, without Bowden, the Vols have struggled significantly at the point guard spot, as Jordan Bone has shouldered a heavier load or Lamonte Turner or Shembari Phillips have taken on the role. Both have failed.

But to make matters worse, Rick Barnes added that Robert Hubbs III has also been playing hurt.

According to Grant Ramey of GoVols247 online, Hubbs has had his right knee drained twice in the past three weeks, and the Vols’ senior and leading scorer has been battling through it.

"It’s not the first time this season that Hubbs has undergone treatment on his right knee, a nagging injury that last season was addressed with arthroscopic surgery during Tennessee’s finals break in December, costing him four games."

Hubbs’s injury directly coincides with this skid that the Vols have been on, which is not a coincidence. But it’s likely going to keep them out of the NCAA Tournament unless they have a miraculous stretch run over the next two weeks.

Perhaps if they get healthy they’ll have a chance, but they definitely had a terrible February.
