Tennessee football offered a scholarship to another defensive lineman Wednesday. The Volunteers reached out to four-star end Thomas Booker of Baltimore, Md.

Butch Jones and the Tennessee football coaching staff went up to the DMV for their next offer. The Vols offered a scholarship to Thomas Booker out of Gilman School in Baltimore on Wednesday.

A 6’4″ 245-pound strong-side defensive end, Booker is listed as a four-star on Rivals. The recruiting service also ranks him as a Top 10 player at his position, a Top 200 player overall, and a Top 5 player in the state of Maryland.

Booker made the announcement of Tennessee’s offer on his Twitter account.

Tennessee football is among about 25 schools who have offered Booker. That includes his in-state school, the Maryland Terrapins, where D.J. Durkin has done a phenomenal job recruiting since he took over.

They also have to fight off numerous schools along the Atlantic Coast to get him. And that includes the national champion Clemson Tigers and their rival and Vols SEC foe South Caroline Gamecocks.

Other SEC schools are in the running as well.

And, given Maryland being in the Big Ten now, they have to fight off schools from that conference. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Stanford Cardinal are also threats.

So Tennessee football has to beat out a lot of people for Booker, but if they can, they’d get a real prize.

Booker is a rare breed who can play inside or outside on the defensive line, and he also is a great receiver.

Here’s a look at some of his highlights.

Clearly, although he’s a speedy guy, Booker shows here how physical he can be. So he’d be a huge pickup for the Tennessee football program and fit right into their system of playmaking defensive ends.
