Tennessee Vols recruiting during the Orange and White weekend, golf, rowing, and baseball and softball lead the Volunteers news for Monday, April 24, 2017.

Happy post-spring game to everybody! The Tennessee Vols football summer offseason has begun after Saturday’s Orange and White game.

Now, we head to the final stretch of the spring sports for the school before the full athletic year comes to an end.

As we get set to bring you the morning news on Rocky Top, hitting the recruiting lottery over the weekend is a major headliner of the spring game. And that happened despite the fact that the spring game only lasted for a half.

Meanwhile, baseball and softball stories continue to dominate as we are in the heart of those spring sports. And other spring sports generated news as well.

Let’s start with the football news.

Tennessee Vols land four commitments during spring game weekend – Cody Pace, SEC Country

Tennessee football picked up three commitments for its 2018 class and another commitment for its 2019 class, making for a very successful spring game weekend. It started with four-star running back Jashaun Corbin on Friday and then three post-spring game commitments.

"Although the game was cut short because of inclement weather, Tennessee secured 2 solid commitments afterward — one from 3-star QB Michael Penix and another from Class of 2019 receiver Cameron Wynn.But those weren’t the only ones. Receiver Jatavious Harris, a 3-star product out of Milledgeville, Ga., confirmed that he too committed to Tennessee on Saturday after the game, then made it official on Sunday."

Tennessee baseball loses two of three vs Aggies – Rhiannon Potkey, Knoxville News Sentinel

The Tennessee Vols lost another SEC series to the No. 20 ranked Texas A&M Aggies on the road over the weekend. However, they did avoid a sweep with a win on Sunday.

"Receiving another strong pitching performance, the Vols rallied to beat No. 20 Texas A&M 5-3 in 14 innings on Sunday in series finale at Blue Bell Park."

Tennessee softball wins series, ends streak vs LSU – Rhiannon Potkey, Knoxville News Sentinel

The Tennessee Vols took two of three against the LSU Tigers on the road this past weekend, moving to 41-6 and 13-4 in the SEC. However, their winning streak stopped after they lost Sunday’s game.

"There will be no lucky No. 21 for the Tennessee softball team.The No. 9 Vols had their nation-leading 20-game winning streak snapped on Sunday on a walk-off home run by Constance Quinn that gave No. 16 LSU a 1-0 victory in the series finale at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge, La."

Women’s golf finishes seventh in 2017 SEC Women’s Golf Championship – UTSports

"Tennessee shot a final round of 290 with freshman Micheala Williams leading the effort with a three-under-par performance on Sunday.Although UT placed seventh, the Vols’ 863 team score ranks as the program’s best 54-hole total at an SEC Championship. The 2001-02 squad previously carded 866 at the 2002 tournament."

Tennessee Vols rowing finishes No. 13 of 21 teams at Clemson Invitational – UTSports

"In Sunday’s 1V8 B Final, Tennessee finished fifth with a time of 6:38.3 in a field where first and last place were separated by less than 13 seconds. Their time put them 1.5 seconds ahead of #18 Louisville who finished sixth and 5.1 seconds behind first place finisher UCLA. UCF, Duke and Oklahoma rounded out the top four while Columbia and Pennsylvania finished seventh and eighth."
