Former Tennessee basketball player, Jordan McRae could be getting another shot at the NBA thanks for a two-way deal from the Washington Wizards.

Jordan McRae could potentially have another shot at the NBA this upcoming season. According to Marc Stein of The New York Times, the No. 58 pick overall in the 2014 NBA Draft could land a two-way deal with the Washington Wizards.

This deal comes after his most recent outing for Laboral Kutxa Baskonia in Spain. Before that, McRae spent time with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2015-2017. He was on the 2016 NBA Championship team and saw action in two playoff games.

His best year in the NBA came in the 2016-17 season where he saw action in 37 games with four starts. McRae averaged around ten minutes a game and scored 4.4 points per game.

His Tennessee basketball career proved he has the talent for the NBA. By his senior year, McRae started all 37 games and averaged 18.7 points per game. He was a dynamic scorer that could drop ten points in a second if the defense wasn’t careful.

That same season McRae earned First-Team All-SEC honors and had an even better NCAA Tournament. His play was remarkable but to see how he progressed as a teammate and leader was even more impressive.

His two-way deal that he is reporting going to sign means he will spend the majority of the season with the Wizard’s G-League affiliate, the Capital City Go Go.

However, if the Wizards choose to do so, McRae could have up to 45 days in the NBA to prove himself. It only takes a few solid games, and then you have a steady spot on an NBA roster.

If he gets his chance, McRae could make some serious noise playing with John Wall. Underrated, John Wall is one of the best point guards in the NBA. His ability to get to the rim is second to none. Okay, maybe Russell Westbrook but Wall is a better point guard for McRae’s situation.

If he can get his opportunity, he could be a similar player to Jamal Crawford. A player that comes off the bench that can score in bunches. Crawford has played in a total of 665 regular season games the past nine seasons and has only started in 40 of them. And, he has averaged over ten points per game in each of those seasons.
