The start of the 2018 football season is growing closer and closer. By the end of August, it will be football time in Tennessee.

There is a lot of excitement in the air around Knoxville, Tennessee. First-year head coach Jeremy Pruitt seems to be doing a lot of stuff right. Well, maybe it is just a lot of stuff before was just so wrong. Butch Jones handled things incredibly awful.

One thing that can be said about Butch Jones is he recruited reasonably well, and he left a lot of talent on the roster for real coaches to actually win football games. Pruitt and his staff (real coaches) might be the answers to the negative clouds hanging over the Tennessee football program.

There is no doubt that the Vols have lost some key players in the last couple of seasons. Guys like Josh Dobbs, Alvin Kamara, Josh Malone, and Cameron Sutton. Those types of players are hard to replace, but there are still some playmakers on the team.

Speaking of talent, the 2018 team is generally underrated this preseason due to the 0-8 record in the SEC last year. However, guys like Jauan Jennings, Nigel Warrior, Trey Smith, and Ty Chandler could be enormous impact players this year.

In this post, we are going to rank the position groups for this upcoming season. Of course, as any rankings go a lot can change with one injury, or with certain players setting up and playing good. So, this post is a ranking of the position groups at the current moment.
