Tennessee football has had a quarterback competition throughout fall camp. Here are four reasons the Volunteers should start Jarrett Guarantano.

The quarterback battle is one of the most fun battles to watch in all of fall camp. Well, that is if it isn’t happening to your favorite team. It can get time-consuming and nerve-racking thinking about it.

We wrote a post explaining why it would be a good idea for Tennessee football to name a starter as soon as possible. However, it could be well into the season into there is a starter is named for good.

Fellow editor, Caleb Calhoun wrote a post on four reasons why graduate transfer Keller Chryst should start at quarterback for the Vols. And, that very well could be the case. In fact, it is still hard to run out JT Shrout or Will McBride at this point.

In this post, I am going to play devil’s advocate and list specific reasons why Jarrett Guarantano is the best option for the Vols at the quarterback position. It is not to say that Chryst is the wrong option. He could very well be the best option for the Vols. However, so could Guarantano.

The start of the season is only a few weeks away and who is going to start at quarterback is one of the biggest stories from camp. This is also one of the first big decisions first-year head coach Jeremy Pruitt is going to have to make. What should he do? Calhoun made a case for Chryst, and now I’m making a case for Guarantano. Let’s roll.
