There are lots of deceiving values in Tennessee football’s Week Three stock report following the Volunteers’ 45-0 win over the Chattanooga Mocs.

It may be hard to gauge how different units are doing after they play an FCS school, but the story is completely different for Tennessee football. Given all the struggles the Vols have had throughout the year, any win is worth breaking down.

After all, UT did lose to a Sun Belt team in the Georgia State Panthers to open the season that was 2-10 the year before and just suffered a blowout loss to the Western Michigan Broncos. The loss against the BYU Cougars to follow, albeit heartbreaking, was still an improvement.

That Tennessee football’s first win came against the Chattanooga Mocs is irrelevant at this point. Anything is worth evaluating, and that’s especially true for a 45-0 shutout victory, which Jeremy Pruitt’s team did enjoy over the weekend.

So three weeks in, we’re going to look at the stock report for the Vols at this point. As usual, our report will focus heavily on the previous week. We traditionally have weighed their play two games prior when doing this on the heels of an FCS matchup.

But this isn’t a traditional season. Rocky Top was 0-2 to start the year for the first time since 1988, and that reset all expectations, including raising 0-12 as a possibility before last weekend’s win. Simply put, it mattered.

And it mattered enough for us to realize we could use the game to somewhat gauge which units and groups are standing out in a successful way and which ones aren’t. That’s important heading into the start of SEC play, against the Florida Gators of all people.

Who is standing out right now? Which parts of this 1-2 team deserve praise? Find out with all of our analysis here. This is our Tennessee football stock report following the Vols’ 45-0 win over the Chattanooga Mocs.
