If they are going to pull an upset in The Swamp, Tennessee football has numerous players who need to step up. Here are five UT Volunteers to watch at UF.

Well, they finally got a win. And now, with a 1-2 record, Tennessee football has to head to Gainesville to face the one team that has dominated it for the past 15 years. Do the Vols have any chance on Saturday against the Florida Gators?

They did show some improvement in key areas last weekend, even though it was against the Chattanooga Mocs. But they’re still facing a top 10 team on the road that is battle-tested with already two wins against Power Five opponents.

Meanwhile, this weekend will be Tennessee football’s first matchup agains a Power Five opponent. And they are 0-2 against FBS schools from the Group of Five. So how could anybody bet on the Vols heading into this game?

If they are going to pull off the upset of the century in this series, they will need key players to step up. The good news for them is they have a couple of players who are experienced enough to have been contributors the last, and only, time they beat UF since 2004. That was in 2016.

But Jeremy Pruitt’s team still has a brutal task ahead against Dan Mullen’s program. Despite what anybody has said about Florida looking rough through three games, they are still undefeated. And their defense is clearly legit.

So if UT is going to pull out the win or even make this matchup close, it will need a complete game from players on both sides of the ball. And that improvement that has been showing the past couple weeks will need to continue.

Who needs to show the most improvement? Which players can become the heroes of this game and join the ranks of Travis Stephens, Al Wilson and Joshua Dobbs? Take a look here. These are the five key Vols to watch for when Tennessee football faces the Florida Gators on the road in Gainesville Saturday.
