Which players in Tennessee basketball history saw the most on-court team success? These are the five biggest winners the Volunteers ever had.

All but one Tennessee basketball All-American failed to reach the NCAA Tournament at least one time during their careers on Rocky Top. Earning individual accolades is worthy of praise in Vol Nation. But translating it to wins on the court doesn’t always happen.

Even in the modern age of the tournament, two of the greatest Vols ever in Tony White and Allan Houston never played one NCAA Tournament game throughout their tenure on Rocky Top. It’s one thing to be a great player, but who are the great winners?

Surprisingly, the two lists are extremely different when it comes to Tennessee basketball. It’s actually shocking to see which players had the greatest success during their time with the Vols on the court.

In this post we’re going to rank those players who won the most. To qualify, a player can never have missed the NCAA Tournament while they played with the Vols, and they have to have been a regular starter for at least two of the years they were in Knoxville.

Comparing success includes championships won while they were there, NCAA Tournament runs they made and all-around just the number of wins they had. All of the players on this list, to be fair, were major reasons for the success. But they may not have been the best players on those teams that made such runs.

Still, you’ve got to admire winning every now and then. That’s the point of trying to lure in top talent to begin with, so the players who helped generate team success on the court deserve their own recognition, even if at times they were just lucky to play in the right era.

Which players are we talking about? How much success did their teams see on the court in college? Let’s go ahead and break them down here. These are the five winningest Tennessee basketball players in school history.
