Final Take

Joshua Dobbs has clearly established himself as the man, and outside of Knoxville the rest of SEC country is doing the same, perhaps because of the lack of decent quarterbacks in the conference.

Either way, he’s got a lot of expectations placed on his shoulders this year and is the face of the quarterback situation at Tennessee. There’s clearly no controversy at this point. And there are no excuses for him not to perform well either.

Dobbs’s style of play could open him up to injury, and if that happens, Quinten Dormady appears ready to step in and play as a pro-style quarterback if necessary. His strong spring and intelligence is an indication that the Vols might not miss a beat if he comes in.

Sheriron Jones could also come in for more continuity since he is a similar player to Dobbs, and Jauan Jennings could come in after that. But DeBord is the type of offensive coordinator who can adjust.

Therefore, he’s going to go with the best he has regardless of the style of offense being run. When the season hits, that means Dobbs as the starter, Dormady as the backup, Jones as the third-stringer, and Jennings as the fourth-stringer.
