Tennessee football faces the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta on Labor Day. Here are the five Volunteers to watch in the game.

It is time for our first look-ahead to a game of the 2017 Tennessee football season. On Monday, Sept. 4, the Vols will take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic in Atlanta.

This is the final game of the weekend. Tennessee enters its fifth season with head coach Butch Jones at the helm ranked in the Top 25, but just barely.

And they’ve got a brutal test right out of the gate to maintain that Top 25 spot.

The Vols are facing the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Paul Johnson’s triple-option offense. This is a difficult game for many reasons. The triple-option is one.

But another is the fact that while the game is technically a neutral-site game, the Vols are playing them in Atlanta.

And Georgia Tech is a solid team too, coming off a 9-4 record. Johnson has kept quiet who is starting quarterback will be to replace Justin Thomas, throwing the Vols off even further.

Tennessee, on the other hand, is keeping its own quarterback situation quiet, as Quinten Dormady and Jarrett Guarantano have battled all year to replace Joshua Dobbs.

Going into this opening game against such a unique opponent, numerous other Vols will have to step up. As we get set to take a look at those guys here, we are basing this off the match-ups and the personnel on both teams.

Tennessee football may not have regular stars this year like last year. But they have plenty of talented guys who need to step up in this game. Here are the five Vols to watch for when they face Georgia Tech.
