He was a three-star in the 2018 Tennessee football recruiting class and then missed nearly half the season due to injury. But Trevon Flowers still saw action in seven games and developed over time to become a very solid player.

Now, entering this year, he’s a favorite to start at safety alongside Nigel Warrior. And Flowers has a great chance to become a star. Remember, the only thing that kept Flowers’s star rating down in high school was the fact that he played baseball and didn’t have the chance to show off his skills at many of those camps.

But there is reason to believe that he has five-star talent, and with a full year starting while playing healthy, he could be unstoppable. The guy worked himself into a favorite for that role while playing spring ball, and there’s a big need for him now with Todd Kelly Jr. and Micah Abernathy gone.

If he has a splash year, who’s to say the 5’11” 184-pound sophomore won’t get immediate recognition from the XFL? There’s a very strong possibility that Flowers emerges as a breakout star in Jeremy Pruitt’s system, and he could be one of the first guys to look for a contract at the next level.
