But it makes for a very intriguing Saturday night SEC matchup featuring a top 10 team down in Alabama. And it just might have the ingredients for an upset if the favorite is not careful after such a huge win last week.
The Auburn Tigers proved they were legit by scoring a huge road win over the Texas A&M Aggies last week, their second win over a top 25 program following their season-opening victory over the Oregon Ducks. Bo Nix is beginning to pick up steam, but the real story is the fact that the Tigers are dominating on defense.
Meanwhile, after losing at home to the Kansas State Wildcats, the Mississippi State Bulldogs rebounded to pretty much dominate the Kentucky Wildcats at home. Now, at 3-1, they are back in business, and Joe Moorhead’s team, despite replacing lots of talent and changing quarterbacks in the middle of the season, wants to prove it’s still top 25 caliber. This is a great chance to do that.
Prediction
If Mississippi State were playing this game at home, we’d actually have a pretty easy time saying that they cover this 10.5-point spread. Auburn has been too inconsistent this year. However, playing at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night requires us to take the Tigers on the spread. They cover, and take the points as both teams’ offenses are coming together.
