A huge Tennessee football showdown with the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday night leads our Week Six Volunteers, Southeaster Conference and top 25 picks.

For better or for worse, Tennessee football is back for us as we do our predictions for the week. And to most people who have been following the Vols and know who they’re up against this weekend, it’s certainly for worse.

However, we had a comeback last week on our picks during UT’s bye. Maybe they spent the bye preparing a comeback and a turnaround after a horrendous 1-3 start with two losses at home to Group of Five schools and still no wins against an FBS school.

So yes, we are the model for Tennessee football to turn things around. Why not give ourselves a good bit of credit? After a bad couple of weeks, here’s a look at how we did on our overall picks and against the spread while the Vols were off.

Record for Week Four predictions straight-up: 8-0

Gambling Record:  9-4-1

Against the spread: 5-2

On the Over/Under: 4-2-1

Boom. We killed it, going perfect outright, and hitting nearly 70 percent on the spread. Now that’s more like it. As we get set for our October picks, let’s take a look at what that did for us on our overall gambling picks for the year.

Overall record for predictions straight-up: 44-11

Gambling Record: 45-43-2

Against the spread: 23-21-1

On the Over/Under: 22-22-1

There you have it. We’re slightly under water with our gambling picks at 51 percent. You need to break 52 for a profit. But we’re above .500, and we’re on a roll. So now’s your chance to pay attention to what we have going on here.

This week’s slate of games is wildly entertaining. There are six SEC teams on a bye week. But among the other eight playing, two play Group of Five schools and the other six play each other. That gives us three all-SEC games to cover, one of which features two top 10 teams, and five games involving SEC teams altogether.

Meanwhile, there are two other games featuring two top 25 teams for us to pick outside of the SEC, and both are in the Big Ten. So we have seven games overall to pick. As usual, we’ll deliver this slideshow in the order the games are scheduled but end with the Vols’ matchup.

What are their chances of pulling off an upset? How will they fare against the spread? Let’s take a look at that and more in our Tennessee football, SEC and top 25 predictions heading into Week Six of the 2019 season.
