Tennessee football falls slightly in Week 2 SEC Power Rankings
Last week: Defeated McNeese State Cowboys 34-7
No teams in the SEC are 0-2, and only four are 1-1. However, only one of those four and one team overall in the SEC still hasn’t beaten an FBS team. We give you the LSU Tigers. Even in an ugly win over the McNeese State Cowboys, LSU had to drop significantly in our SEC Power Rankings, largely because of what other teams did.
Honestly, you could have made a case, at this moment, for them to be below the Vanderbilt Commodores. However, both are 1-1, and LSU at least played a Power Five program along with their FCS foe. Vandy played an FCS and a Group of Five foe.
Joining Vandy and LSU are Tennessee football and the Missouri Tigers, but both have FBS wins, both have played at least one Power Five foe and neither has lost to an FCS school. That’s what puts LSU and Vandy in a separate tier for now.
Ed Orgeron will finally get his chance at an FBS win this week, though, as his team hosts the Central Michigan Chippewas before getting set for SEC play next week. CMU is a tough team, but the Tigers should pull this one out. If they don’t they’ll be in serious trouble.
