Pass defense

Four interceptions was impressive given the fact that Tennessee football couldn’t buy a turnover in its first two games. However, the Vols did allow TTU to gain 144 yards through the air, and honestly, that’s embarrassing given who they were playing. Three of the interceptions were caused by a pass rush on the horrendous TTU offensive line as well.

Anyway, we still have to look at how they allowed Kenney Pickett and Pitt to pick them apart the previous week. The pass rush remains the one concerning aspect of the rush defense. As a result, we have to say that those four picks were a fluke and about who they played. This is still a part of the game with a major problem.

Certainty of the QB situation

Last week seemed to affirm to everybody that Hendon Hooker should be the starter. Don’t be so sure of that. Joe Milton III is likely still in the running, as Hooker suffered just as many overthrows last week as Milton had been suffering on his deep balls.

Grading the Vols in their 56-0 win vs. Tennessee Tech. dark. Next

All we know for sure at this point is that Harrison Bailey won’t be Tennessee football’s starter. Hooker had two fumbles and botched a snap, and he’s fumbled each of the past three games. There are issues with his game that could put Milton ahead of him. As a result, the certainty of this situation is highly overrated, and it doesn’t even seem that certain.
