Tennessee football: SEC and top 25 picks and bets for Week 6 of 2021
Gambling odds:
- Line: Florida -38
- Over/Under: 59.5
- Moneyline: Florida -50000; Vanderbilt+7500
How is No. 20 ranked Florida going to get up for this game? One week after blowing out Tennessee football, the Gators pretty much ended all hope for any championship this season after suffering an upset loss to the Kentucky Wildcats. That loss made no sense given how badly they outplayed UK.
Now, Dan Mullen’s team has to return to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores. Florida will obviously be wanting to right the ship in The Swamp, but they’re facing Vandy, so you have to question how ready they’ll be to do that.
On the other side, Clark Lea’s team is riding high after a thrilling last-second field goal to beat the UConn Huskies last week. It may be their last win of the season, but they’ll take it given the state of the program right now. Now, they did struggle to beat a winless team, but UConn has played everybody close since firing Randy Edsall.
Prediction
This line is overreacting to that close call with UConn. I like Vanderbilt to cover here. Florida’s largest margin of victory this year is 24. They’ve only beaten Vandy by this much once the past 10 years. By keeping it on the ground, the game will hit the under too. Florida wins comfortably, but they won’t score enough to cover.
Florida: 38 Vanderbilt: 10 (Vanderbilt +38; Under 59.5)
