SEC Network. 3-2 (1-1). Lexington, Ky.. Saturday, Oct. 9. 833. 7:30 p.m. ET. 817. 5-0 (3-0)

Gambling odds:

  • Line: Kentucky -3
  • Over/Under: 51
  • Moneyline: Kentucky -160; LSU +140

People might have been able to predict at the beginning of the season that this matchup at Kroger Field would feature a No. 16 ranked 5-0 team against an unranked 3-2 team. However, nobody would have predicted which team would be which.

Kentucky, at this point, is all but a circled loss for Tennessee football. Mark Stoops’ team keeps finding ways to win despite looking ugly. Last week, they beat Florida despite having the same number of turnovers and being outgained by over 100 yards. How? They blocked a field goal and ran it back for a touchdown.

Now LSU comes into the game with Ed Orgeron’s seat hotter than ever after last week’s tough loss against Auburn. They are in a stretch of six straight games against teams currently ranked in the top 25, and this is the second of those games. Some of them have to be wins.

Prediction

LSU is desperate, and Kentucky’s luck has to run out at some point. UK is at its best against rush-oriented teams. Missouri, which passes more, gave them tons of trouble. That’s what LSU does. As a result, I’ve got the Tigers in the upset on the road. Because they’ll turn the game into an aerial assault, the game will also hit the over. Orgeron gets his magic back here.

LSU: 30 Kentucky: 24 (LSU +3; Over 51)
