Tennessee football up again in Week 6 SEC Power Rankings
Last week: Lost to North Texas Mean Green 48-35
Moving onto our next tier in these SEC Power Rankings, this tier involves .500 teams that haven’t beaten a Power Five program yet. The Missouri Tigers fit that profile, and Eliah Drinkwitz’s team continues to look like it took a major step back his second year on the job.
After a 62-24 blowout loss to Tennessee football, you could say Mizzou actually looked worse over the weekend. The North Texas Mean Green are a horrendous Group of Five team, and they gained 493 yards against that defense.
We already knew the rush defense was an issue, which is why Drinkwitz fired his defensive line coach, but the pass defense also looks like it’s becoming a major issue. If Drinkwitz isn’t careful, the bottom could fall out of this program quickly, especially with the schedule coming up.
Mizzou next has to host a resurgent Texas A&M Aggies program. They then get a bye and a potential reprieve at Vanderbilt, but then they have the Georgia Bulldogs. The Florida Gators and Arkansas Razorbacks are at the end of the year. If they want to reach a bowl, they have to upset A&M, UGA, Florida or Arkansas, and they have to beat Vandy and the next team in these rankings.
