Tennessee football up again in Week 6 SEC Power Rankings
Last week: Did not play
It was honestly tough to put Mississippi State down here or to drop them at all. After all, their most recent outing was a huge win over Texas A&M, and Texas A&M’s recent win should actually give MSU more credibility. However, if we played that card, then MSU’s loss to the Memphis Tigers now looks bad since Memphis is on a three-game losing streak since then.
Anyway, Mike Leach has played a huge role in ending the transitive victories that should have made these power rankings smooth. Again, if Tennessee football had hired him, he would’ve made things like this extremely fun.
Instead, we have to figure out what to Make of Mississippi State. After all, a loss to LSU is as hard to figure out for this team as a loss to Memphis when you consider the fact that they beat A&M. Coming off a bye, though, they’re above .500 with a lot to play for.
Up next for them is the same team A&M just shocked. Yes, they get to host Alabama. Can they pull off the same magic that was just pulled against Nick Saban? Well, they still have Vanderbilt and the Tennessee State Tigers to get to five wins. However, if they don’t upset Alabama, they also either have to upset Kentucky, Arkansas, Auburn or Ole Miss.
