Last week: Defeated South Carolina Gamecocks 45-20

Although Tennessee football is the one team with two losses that doesn’t have a transitive loss below it or a transitive win above it in these SEC Power Rankings, we had to move the Vols up at least one spot over the weekend. How can you ignore the dominating victories they have enjoyed the past two weeks?

UT may have beaten who we dub the second worst and third worst teams in these rankings, but they were blowout wins. Following up a 62-24 win against Missouri with a 45-20 win against South Carolina is indicative of strides this program has taken that it hasn’t taken in a long time.

This team as a whole has been getting better each week, and doing what it did Saturday despite being banged up in key spots makes what it did even more impressive. There’s a case to make that the Vols belong higher on this list.

Well, we’ll find out how legit they are now. They’ve locked up six wins with the South Alabama Jaguars and then Vandy to end the season. In between, though, they have Ole Miss, at Alabama, at Kentucky and then Georgia. Could they steal any of these games? Stealing just one would be a huge success, and given the way they’ve been playing, you have to think it’s possible.
