light. Related Story. Five Rebels to watch for against Vols

For the first time in a while, Tennessee football may be taking part in the most intriguing game of the week. It’s the return to Neyland Stadium for Lane Kiffin as the head coach of another program, the first time he’ll be doing that since he left UT in the middle of the night after the 2009 season.

The Vols are rolling under Josh Heupel, having dominated Mizzou and South Carolina. Their offense is becoming fun to watch, especially in the first quarter, when they do the bulk of their work. A bowl is almost certain now, but this kicks off a four-game stretch against all top 25 teams, and they could use an upset.

Meanwhile, the Ole Miss Rebels come in ranked No. 13 in the AP Poll and No. 14 in the Coaches Poll on the heels of a thrilling 52-51 win over Arkansas. That Alabama loss was still pretty embarrassing, but at least they have multiple quality wins and a lot to still play for.

Prediction

Despite an over/under set at 82, the over is still the play. Tennessee football and Ole Miss have the top two offenses in the SEC, and while the Vols have a solid defense, it’s not great. Meanwhile, Ole Miss’ defense is horrible. So the points is the best play.

In terms of the game itself, I almost wanted to switch my pick earlier this week and go with UT because of the defense. However, Tiyon Evans being banged up has me going back to Ole Miss. The Vols will start strong in the first, but Ole Miss will then have a strong second. They’ll pull away in the second half but barely cover as Tennessee football makes a furious comeback late.
