There are a couple of guys who had cases to be Alabama’s top weapon in this game. We mentioned Brian Robinson Jr., who leads the team in total yards from scrimmage. Well, John Metchie III has 41 catches for 480 yards and three touchdowns. Last year, he torched Tennessee football with seven catches for 151 yards after Jaylen Waddle went down.

However, Jameson Williams is the biggest threat to the Vols in this game. Williams has been a more productive receiver than Metchie, catching 29 passes for 587 yards and coming away with six touchdowns. What sets him apart, though, is his ability in the return game. He has already run back two kickoffs for touchdowns this year.

On the other side, the Vols did allow a kickoff return for a touchdown against the Missouri Tigers. As a result, special teams could become a huge disadvantage for them, and Williams may be part of making that happen given his track record.

When you factor in where the Vols are weaker vs. what Williams has done, it’s pretty obvious he’s the most important offensive skill player they need to contain with the ball in his hands. He has replaced Waddle pretty well so far, and he could do more of that Saturday.
