Scouting Report. Quarterback. Sophomore. Bryce Young. 2. player. 829. Pick Analysis

6’0″ 194 pounds

Although Jameson Williams and Brian Robinson Jr. are key skill players, the guy who makes Alabama’s offense go is the quarterback. It’s pretty obvious to see now why Bryce Young got so much money before even playing a game. He’s as good as advertised, and Tennessee football has to find a way to slow him down.

So far this year, Young has completed 157 of 225 passed (69.2 percent) for 2,082 yards (9.3 yards per attempt), 24 touchdowns and just three interceptions. He’s doing this all in his first year starting, and this is with the coaching staff putting everything on his shoulders.

The Vols have already shown they can struggle with elite pocket passers at quarterback. Look at what Kenny Pickett did with the Pittsburgh Panthers to them. Young is more than capable of doing that and then some, and if the Vols aren’t careful, he may torch them all night.

One bit of good news for UT is that it seems to have gotten getter at disrupting the pass since that Pitt game. Last week, the Vols got a ton of pressure on Matt Corral, and that resulted in him having a mediocre passing day. He still ran for 195 yards, but Young isn’t that mobile. If the Vols can pull that off again, they may have a chance, but that’ll be tough.
